What a weekend.
After months of planning, building shelves, unpacking boxes and quietly dreaming about what The Spicy Librarian might become, we finally opened our doors — and the response completely blew us away.
From the moment the shop opened, Warwick Street filled with readers ready to explore the shelves, swap recommendations and discover their next five-star romance read. Many of you travelled from across the Midlands and beyond just to be here for the opening, which meant the world to us.
Over the course of the weekend we watched people fall in love with the space — readers browsing romantasy for the first time, friends debating their favourite morally grey heroes, and plenty of you leaving with arms full of books and very happy smiles.
One visitor summed it up perfectly when they told us:
“It feels like walking into a romance reader’s dream bookshop.”
That’s exactly what we hoped it would be.
The idea behind The Spicy Librarian has always been simple: create a space where romance readers feel completely at home. A place where every trope, every sub-genre and every level of spice is celebrated — from cosy romcoms to epic fantasy love stories and dark, addictive romance.
Opening weekend felt like the beginning of something very special. We saw readers meeting for the first time, book club plans forming in the aisles, and plenty of conversations that started with “Have you read this one yet?”
And this is only the start.
Over the coming months we’ll be hosting book clubs, author events, reader celebrations and community gatherings — all designed to bring romance lovers together.
