FAQ
The essentials
When and where is the ball? The MAASquerade Ball takes place over two evenings, Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th October at Ragley Hall, Alcester, Warwickshire, B49 5NJ. Please check your ticket and invitation for the night you booked. Tickets are valid only for that night.
What time should I arrive?
The car park opens at 6pm. Enter Ragley Hall from the main entrance and follow directions to the car park. Shuttle buses to the Hall begin at 6.30pm, and entertainment starts as guests arrive. You don’t want to miss out so please arrive promptly, allow time to park, have your tickets checked, board the shuttle and make your entrance. The evening finishes at midnight, when return shuttles will take guests back to the car park to depart.
Can I attend both nights?
Yes, if you have a separate ticket for each night. A ticket for one night does not admit you on the other.
Tickets and invitations
What does my ticket include?Your ticket includes entry to the ball and the evening’s entertainment, including welcome drinks, canapes and The Spicy Librarian Podcast recording. Additional drinks and purchases from the Night Court Market vendors are available on the night. Please check your original ticket listing for the inclusions attached to your booking.
Will I receive a printed invitation?
Yes. These are in the post, and spoiler alert, they are gorrrgeous! We’ve sent printed invitations to the original ticket holders (If you purchased one or more, they will all be delivered to you). If you selected collect from store, they will be ready to pick up from Wednesday 14th October and you’d need to collect before the evening of your event. Your invitation contains the arrival details.
What do I need to bring for entry?
As you enter through the main entrance follow the drive and stick to the left for any forks in the road, you will come to a hut where your tickets will be checked. Please bring a screenshot of your original order, your invitations and ID as the name on the original booking will get you access. Please note mobile signal issues can arise, so it’s best to screenshot your original purchase before you arrive for a swift entry and no delays.
I haven’t received my invitation or ticket. What should I do?First check your spam folder and the email address used to book. If your printed invitation has not arrived by 22nd October 2026 contact admin@thespicylibrarian.co.uk with your order number and booked night.
Can I transfer my ticket to someone else?Yes if you can no longer make it, you can resell your ticket but you must email admin@thespicylibrarian.co.uk to confirm the new person’s name and email address. Please never buy a ticket from an unverified social media seller.
Can I get a refund if I can’t attend? No refunds, but there are plenty of people still looking to get their hands on a ticket - we’d recommend posting a comment on an ACOTAR Ball themed Instagram Reel on The Spicy Librarian page and someone will snap them up. Please never buy a ticket from an unverified social media seller. If you want to check it is a valid ticket before purchasing, email us for confirmation that the seller is valid.
Are tickets available on the door? Is there a waitlist?Unfortunately, we are sold out both evenings. Please only come if you have a ticket.
Is there a minimum age?
This is an 18+ event please.
Getting to Ragley Hall
Where should I park?Follow the driveway through Ragley Hall Estate from the main entrance. Go past Ragley Hall, which will be on your right-hand side, and the car park is just in front of you on the left-hand side road - you will see minibuses and TSL staff there. The event car park opens at 6pm.
Is parking included, and can I leave my car overnight? There is no charge to park and you can leave your car overnight but it must be collected promptly the following morning. Please arrange a safe journey home if you plan to drink and pre arrange taxis to arrive at Midnight.
How do I get from the car park to the Hall?Complimentary shuttle buses begin running at 6.30pm. Return shuttles begin at midnight and will take guests back to the event car park at the end of the night.
Can a taxi or private driver drop me at the Hall?Any taxis will need to drop guests to the car park once you’ve been through the ticket check point. You can be collected from the car park at the event close at Midnight. Share the pickup instructions with your driver in advance. Mobile signal may be limited so ensure your drivers know to collect from the car park, not the main house.
Will there be transport from a train station or local hotels? No transport is provided from outside the estate but there are plenty of taxi firms available so we recommend booking early.
Can I arrive late or leave early?Last admission will be 8pm into the Grand Hall. Entertainment begins as guests arrive from 6.30pm, so we recommend coming early to enjoy the whole experience else you may miss something spectacular …
The night itself
What is the dress code?Extravagant, dramatic, fae. Think ballgowns, tuxedos, dinner suits and, of course, masks. If you think you’ve gone too far, you probably haven’t. There is an element of entertainment outside before we go into the Grand Hall, so we would recommend a coat as it’s colder. Please bring an umbrella if it’s raining but we hope for a beautiful autumnal evening.
Do I need to dress as an ACOTAR character? No but if you want to we absolutely welcome that too. Come as a courtly version of yourself, dress for your favourite court, or create an entirely new look. This is your night, we want you to have the best time and feel comfortable.
What shoes should I wear?Wear something you can dance and move in comfortably. There are stairs to climb up to the Grand Hall, and then down Under the Mountain, as well as gravel paths between transport and the Hall, so plan footwear accordingly.
What happens during the evening?Expect entertainment from the moment you arrive, the chance to take part in a Spicy Librarian podcast discussion about your theories, and a journey Under the Mountain for dancing until midnight. We have a few surprises planned, too. We also have a night court market where amazing Bookish vendors are available for you to purchase gifts. Please bring cash, but most will take card.
Do I have to join the podcast or speak on camera?
No. You can enjoy the discussion without speaking.
Will there be music and dancing?
Yes. We’ll party Under the Mountain until midnight.
Is there a cloakroom or somewhere to leave my bag?Yes feel free to bring coats, we have a cloakroom to use which is free of charge. These items will be available to collect at the end of the evening as you depart. Please keep any valuables with you.
Is there seating? In the Grand Hall and Under The Mountain we will have chairs available but it is mainly standing, or we hope, dancing. Let us know about any access requirements using admin@thespicylibrarian.co.uk so we can help arrange this for you. We have lift available to help those unable to use stairs please tell us in advance so we can support and direct you.
Can I take photos and videos?
Abso-luuutely! We cannot wait to watch how you capture the night. Please be considerate of other guests and performers. If you are attending the Monday night, we would ask that you don’t share BIG spoilers for the Tuesday night guests. But from Wednesday morning - the embargo is lifted! Please tag @thespicylibrarianuk and use #TSLMaasquerade and we will share your content on our channels. We will have a videographer and photographer throughout the event and this footage will be shared on social media and for our podcast channel. (if you prefer not to appear in this content, make sure you stand towards the back of the grand hall during the podcast). Still professional photography will be available to purchase afterwards from our photographer who will provide you with a code to purchase.
What happens if I feel unwell or need help?Speak to a member of event staff or security immediately. We have first aiders available and can help.
Food and drink
Is food included? Will food be available to buy?Your welcome drink and canapes are on us. After the Podcast you will have the chance to shop at the Night Court Market where there will be additional food vendors selling sweet treats. If you prefer something more substantial than canapés, we recommend eating something before you come.
Are drinks included? Is there a bar?We are providing prosecco and orange juice for a welcome drink. Then there is a bar for purchasing drinks such as wine, beer, cider, cocktails and soft drinks.
Can you cater for allergies and dietary requirements?Yes, we would need to let the caterer know of any food allergies please can you email admin@thespicylibrarian.co.uk. If you have a severe allergy, contact us before the event so we can discuss the arrangements.
Can I bring my own food or drink?
Please don’t bring any drink with you - you are welcome to bring a snack but we do have options for you to buy sweet treats via our vendors.
Accessibility and comfort
Is the event accessible?Ragley Hall is a historical building but it does offer step free access, if you require this please email us in advance so we can arrange this. Our logistics require you to board a mini bus - if you are unable to, please just email us and we can sort any arrangements with you.
Is accessible parking or drop-off available? Please contact admin@thespicylibrarian.co.uk before the event if you need an accessible arrival arrangement.
Are the shuttle buses wheelchair accessible? They are not, but we can arrange an alternative arrival we just need to know in advance.
Can I bring a companion, carer or assistance dog? We’d need to agree this in advance for our risk assessment so please email admin@thespicylibrarian.co.uk. Please note, there will be loud music, and flashing visual entertainment which may frighten dogs so we’d advise leaving them at home unless they are a guide dog. Just email us and we can support.
Will there be flashing lights, loud music or a quiet space? There will be visual and audio entertainment taking place throughout the night, some of this will be quite loud and have flashing lights. If you need quiet space, please contact us
