From One Dream to Another
Six months ago, we opened the doors to The Spicy Librarian bookshop in Leamington Spa after just five weeks of renovation (our builders hated me!)
And now, somehow, we’re launching our brand-new website and digital store, while standing in a warehouse filled with thousands (and thousands) of books, all waiting to find their new homes. We even have a Spicy Librarian van - you wait till you see it, she’s a beauty.
Honestly, it’s quite hard to get my head around.
The first half of this year has been a complete whirlwind. We’ve welcomed more readers through our doors than we ever imagined, hosted some unforgettable events, heard some very unhinged fantasies from our community (yes, I’m looking at you), launched our book box subscription, and built the most incredible community of romance readers.
There have been pinch-me moments, a lot of late nights, big crazy ideas, occasional chaos and an absolutely obscene number of cardboard boxes and stickers. Sorry and thank you x1000 to our subscription fulfilment team - you rock, honestly.
Launching our online store means that The Spicy Librarian is no longer just a place you have to visit in person - although you absolutely should. Now, wherever you are, you can browse our shelves, discover your next obsession and have a little piece of TSL delivered straight to your door.
Every one of those books will be picked, packed and sent from our very own warehouse, where thousands of stories are currently sitting patiently, waiting to be loved, devoured, trophied, cried over and probably thrown across a room at least once.
And this is still only the beginning.
We have so much to tell you about what has happened over the past six months and even more to share about what’s coming next. So, each week, you’ll find me here talking about the reality of building The Spicy Librarian: the highs, the lessons, the chaos, the decisions and everything we’re learning (quickly) along the way.
I’ve been repeatedly told that, as a female entrepreneur, I should be sharing all of this on LinkedIn.
I am refusing.
Gross.
